Fusinus colombiensis Snyder & Snyder, 1999La Conchiglia 291: 21-22. Fusinus colombiensis is described from 30-80 m off Cabo de la Vela, Guajira Peninsula, Colombia (type locality). The shell is heavy, medium in size (to 46.3 mm), typical fusiform, 9 whorls. Aperture ovate, lirate within, about equal in length to siphonal canal. 9-10 axial ribs, crossed by numerous prominent spiral cords. Dark brown axial colour stripes, grooves between spiral cords either brown or white on ribs. This new taxon differs from its closest relative, Fusinus hartvigii Shuttleworth, 1856, both in colouration and in surface sculpture. The holotype (37.3 mm) has been deposited in the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia (ANSP 401336).
