Fusinus allyni McLean, 1970: New Species of Panamic Gastropods. The Veliger 12 (3): 314-315, pl. 46, figs. 15-17.
DescriptionShell fusiform, rather large, thin-shelled, conspicuously light in weight. 10-12 well-rounded, ventricose whorls. Suture deeply impressed. Shoulder slope clearly convex. The last 3 whorls are usually double-keeled at the periphery. 8-10 low axial ribs on upper whorls, 11-13 prominent knobs on penultimate and body whorl. The ribs reach from suture to suture on all whorls. The interspaces between them are slightly broader than the ribs themselves. About 4 spiral cords on upper whorls, 6-7 on latter whorls. The two central spiral cords are clearly stronger developed, usually forming a distinct double peripheral keel. The spirals on the shoulder slope are rather fine. 3-5 intercalated secondary spiral threads on latter whorls. Aperture round to ovate, white coloured. Outer lip thin, simple, without internal lirae. Parietal callus white, thin, underlying spiral cords still visible. No columellar folds. Siphonal canal long and straight. Colouration whitish to light brown. Spire tip and siphonal canal often light brown. The axial ribs are usually reddish-brown coloured. Operculum thin, corneous, typical for genus.
